These pics were taken over several weeks in December 2011 – always a buzzing time of year. The Swamp Tigertail is a new dragonfly for me (which means I didn’t see it last summer), the nectar Scarabs are pretty much a seasonal certainty and the Firewheel Groundsel is no longer a mysterious ‘fireweed’. Grass growth in the paddocks these last two seasons has been spectacular, especially the Fog Grass (Holcus lanatus), affording plenty of protection for lots of ground dwelling animals. Such cover was sorely lacking in forest and paddock through much of the drought.
